7 Botpress alternatives for website AI agents in 2026
Compare Javo and six Botpress alternatives. See the price per included conversation, where Botpress is the better fit and when not to choose Javo.
Botpress is a builder for custom agents. People look for alternatives when they find that they would rather buy a finished result than maintain workflows, or when conversation counts and automatic top-ups make the monthly bill hard to predict.
Javo is listed first because Javo publishes this article. It is a narrower product with the setup done for you. The table shows where Botpress is the better choice.
About this comparison: Javo publishes this article and is one of the options listed, in first place. Placement reflects our focus on website enquiries, not an independent performance ranking. We checked the public vendor pages named in the sources on 16 October 2026. We did not run a head-to-head product benchmark. Prices are in US dollars unless marked €. Billing units differ, and the vendor can change them at any time.
When Botpress is the better choice
Keep Botpress when you need a custom workflow, several tools connected to the agent, or control over how the agent behaves. Botpress also lists a managed option, built and maintained by its experts, with no price on the page. Ask for a quote before assuming that a done-for-you setup is only available from Javo.

When not to choose Javo
If you need workflows that call other systems or you want to change the agent’s behaviour yourself every week, start with Botpress or Chatbase.
Javo is a website agent set up for you at €600 per month per product. It does not include a ticket queue, a tool your team configures and maintains or a CRM or customer database.
Read the conversation definition and recharge rules
On Botpress, a conversation is at least two end-user messages in a billing month, a conversation that spans two months counts in both, and each anonymous session counts separately. Plus and Team packs are added automatically at 95% of the allowance. Unused conversations expire at month end.
Javo costs €600 per month per product. At Botpress Plus, 250 conversations cost $150 per month on an annual plan. If your site receives fewer than 250 real conversations, the Botpress route is likely to cost less in subscription fees. Add the time of the person who builds and maintains the agent before you compare.
How to test a replacement
Write down the three things the agent must do on your site, such as answer pricing questions, take a callback request and refuse legal questions. Ask each option to do all three using your own pages. Count how many steps your team needs for each change.
Run the test for two weeks and keep a list of questions that were answered wrongly or not at all. Review that list with the vendor.
